Microgrids: stakeholder interaction

On December 7th, 2015, Smart Grid Flanders hosted a vision seminar on economic and sustainable energy provision in 2020, in partnership with Port of Antwerp and i-Cleantech Flanders. After introductory speeches on the energy priorities for industry and the activities of the Port of Antwerp in this context, three parallel breakout sessions focused on:

• Microgrids: opportunities and barriers
• Markets and pricing: new possibilities to lower energy bills
• Sustainability and ISO 50001: best approach to stay ahead of changing legislation

The 3 STORY partners Prospex Institute, Th!nk E and Vlerick Business School designed, organized and facilitated the microgrids session under the EU Horizon 2020 STORY project. Some 40 workshop participants, primarily from industry, but also distribution network operators, worked on identification of barriers, opportunities and clustering these issues according to themes (e.g. legislation, infrastructure, consumers, etc.).
